These are the first two of fifteen invocations that come from the bi-lingual debut poetry collection Spiritmaking (English) and Maak geest (Dutch) published by Little Earth Mountain. The thirty poems together stem from a multi-year pilgrimage of studying through the use of DMT, where the series as a whole covers the trajectory of learning to reach the same state of mind of deep psychedelics through the activity of concentrated writing alone. Each poem is an invocation dedicated to a shared subjectivity.

i.

techno angel, ghost me

spread my openness

gift it to your sacred rain

spirit me away

to a glimmering lake of colour-time

dripping electric with desire

I imagine me in my body

limbs unfinished – oversized head

big eyes, pale skin from screen-living

the pain of all attention on myself: an alien

in the ruins of other-than-humans

we stray far from the wilds of Earth

as if already in outer space

you laugh at my hunger for time

adored like your desire

for immortality

ii.

tongueless licking from within

letters live in rainbow glow

a dance of vibrant colourmist

this earliest of spirits, archaic hi-tech

abundant, green, translucent

is very good at cleaving

while claiming she connects

between her words fit nights

you need lips, sometimes teeth

to touch bloodbodies, tickle nerve endings

a rolling tongue, lulling, lusciously

English loves it when it is she you speak
